It's an interesting idea. I can't really picture it, but would love to see photos when it's done ;). I am not very creative when it comes to interior design.
I love the idea...but if I ever come over for dinner, you'll have to help me out of those directors chairs! Usually my feet don't hit the ground (even the normal size ones) so be prepared to pull!
I love everything but the chairs. I don't hate the chairs but I'm not swooning over them either. Something about them makes it seem too casual. You need a chair with more sex appeal...to balance out that awesome rug!

You could go to a glass cutting place and have them cut a square piece of glass for you - just an idea.

I agree with jacki. I think that's what's not selling me completely, the casualness of the director's chairs.
